Acceptable Use Policy

The rules for using Nodes Unlimited hosting, email, VPS, and domain services — and what happens when they are broken.

Last updated: August 5, 2026

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (the “AUP”) applies to everyone who uses our services, and is incorporated into our Terms of Service. It exists to protect our network, our other customers, and the wider internet. You are responsible for the conduct of anyone you allow to use your services, including your own end users and clients.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not use our services to host, store, or distribute:

  • Content that is illegal under United States or Massachusetts law
  • Child sexual abuse material, which we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement
  • Material that infringes copyright, trademark, patent, or trade secret rights
  • Content that promotes violence, terrorism, or unlawful discrimination, or that harasses or threatens a person
  • Malware, ransomware, exploit kits, keyloggers, or other malicious code
  • Phishing pages, fraudulent storefronts, or content impersonating another person or organization
  • Content that violates export control, sanctions, or privacy laws

3. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use our services to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email, or operate a mailing list without verifiable opt-in consent from every recipient
  • Forge headers, obscure the origin of a message, or relay mail through third-party servers without authorization
  • Gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or network, including port scanning and vulnerability scanning of systems you do not own
  • Launch or participate in denial-of-service attacks, or knowingly host infrastructure that supports them
  • Operate open proxies, open mail relays, open DNS resolvers, or anonymizing exit nodes
  • Mine cryptocurrency on shared hosting, or run any process that degrades service for other customers
  • Circumvent resource limits, billing controls, or account restrictions
  • Resell or sublicense our services except under an agreement that expressly permits it

4. Resource Usage

Shared hosting is a shared environment. We may throttle, suspend, or require migration to a VPS or dedicated resources when an account consistently consumes CPU, memory, disk I/O, inodes, or bandwidth at a level that affects other customers on the same server. Where practical, we will contact you before taking action and give you a chance to resolve it.

Backup storage is provided for the operation of your own services, not as a general-purpose archive or file distribution service.

5. Email Sending

Bulk and transactional email sent through our network must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and, where applicable, the GDPR and CASL. Every marketing message must identify the sender, include a valid physical address, and offer a working unsubscribe mechanism that is honored promptly. We may impose sending rate limits, and we may suspend sending from an account that generates excessive bounces, complaints, or blocklist entries.

6. Domain Registrations

Domains registered through us are subject to ICANN policy and the rules of the relevant registry, including the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy. You must keep registrant contact details accurate and respond to registry verification requests; failure to do so can result in suspension of the domain by the registry, which is outside our control. Registering domains that infringe a trademark or that are used for phishing may result in immediate suspension.

7. Reporting Abuse

Report suspected abuse to abuse@nodesunlimited.com. Please include the affected domain, IP address, or URL, along with timestamps, headers, or log excerpts where available. We review every report and act on verified abuse. Reports concerning imminent harm are prioritized.

8. Enforcement

When we find a violation, our response is proportionate to the severity and to whether it is repeated. Depending on the circumstances, we may:

  • Contact you and ask that the issue be corrected
  • Remove or disable access to the offending content
  • Throttle or filter the traffic involved
  • Suspend the affected service
  • Terminate the account and, where required, notify authorities

For severe abuse — including phishing, malware distribution, child sexual abuse material, or activity that threatens the stability or reputation of our network — we may suspend immediately and without prior notice. Suspension for a violation of this AUP does not entitle you to a refund. If you believe an action was taken in error, contact support@nodesunlimited.com and we will review it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP as threats and legal obligations change. Material changes will be announced by email or by a notice on our website before they take effect. Continued use of the services after that date means you accept the updated policy.
